About the
Tournament
The Penang Cup is an international youth football tournament by the team behind the Kuala Lumpur Cup, KL Invitational Cup and Liga Suparimau.
First held in 2019, the tournament is now back after the Covid disruptions, with the 2023 edition kicking off on 26th & 27th August.
Part of the Maxim Events Malaysia Cup Series, the tournament is targetted at competitive junior teams from across the region, and aims to improve the opportunities for inter-club football in Southeast Asia.
The 2023 tournament will be held at 2 venues: Kopa Arena on Penang Island, and Stadium Permatang Rawa in Bukit Mertajam on Penang’s Mainland.

Stadium Mini Permatang Rawa
The 2023 Penang Cup will take place at Stadium Permatang Rawa in Bukit Mertajam on Penang’s Mainland.
The venue offers high quality artificial turf and good facilities for local and travelling teams.
Tournament Formats
The Penang Cup follows a 2-stage tournament format, with Group stages on day 1 followed by knockout and playoff competitions on day 2. All teams will advance to the knockout stages and will play approximately 6 to 8 matches across the weekend.

Tournament fees
The Penang Cup is priced per team. Squad sizes are capped for each age group, however academies may enter multiple teams per age category.
